Buyakada Island

Assalaamu Alaykum world.  These are pictures of Buyakada Island, an island in the Prince Islands. The Prince Islands are situated in the Marmara Sea (south of Istanbul).  Buyakada is the largest of the Prince Islands which are composed of nine islands (four big and five small).  Went here on April 6, 2014.

There are a lot of stray horses who are old on Buyakada Island.    Horses are raised to pull carriages there and then when they are old are turned loose.  Turkey also has stray cats and stray dogs.  The dogs are drugged as some are aggressive to certain people.

The next five pictures are where the carriages stop so the horses can get a five minute rest.  There is a corral with a horse and some donkeys in it that you can rent to ride.  I petted one of the donkeys and a horse.

The next six pictures are on the ferry back to Istanbul.

The last six pictures are another of the Prince Islands.  Ferry stopped here to let some people off. Seagulls continued following and you could toss bread to them that you purchased.   You have to get a ticket for all the islands to explore them all.   Also have to take a train to get to the port and buy tickets for one or all of the islands and then get on the ferry.  You can only travel to the islands that you have the ticket for.
